    Indonesian Ministry of Manpower Granted K3 Awards to Three NCKL Entity Companies

    SNIPER86.ID | Jakarta - The Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemnaker) RI awarded PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk (NCKL) or Harita Nickel for its excellent commitment to the implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Management System for companies and Governors as K3 supervisors in Jakarta, Thursday (22/6/2023). 

    At once, three NCKL entity companies managed to get a Gold Certificate or the highest K3 award from the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower with a satisfactory predicate. The three companies are PT Megah Surya Pertiwi (MSP), PT Halmahera Persada Lygend (HPL), PT Halmahera Jaya Feronikel (HJF). 

    The K3 awards are given to companies that have successfully achieved implementation of the K3 Management System (SMK3). This award is also a recognition of the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower for the company's dedication and hard work to create a safe and healthy work environment for employees. 

    In her speech, the Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah, said that K3 must increasingly become a concern and priority for the workplace in Indonesia. Ida Fauziyah added that the number of companies that maintain zero accidents every year has increased. 

    "We hope that the achievement of these K3 awards can motivate other company leaders to maintain K3 performance, because K3 is an investment and could maintain business continuity, and achieve company productivity," said Ida Fauziyah. 
     
    MSP, HPL and HJF are the first nickel processing plants in North Maluku to carry out SMK3 Certification. The audit results of the Independent Audit Institution showed an achievement of 85.93% (MSP), 87.5% (HPL) and the highest of 89.6% for HJF. 

    This excellent K3 performance shows the Companies' high commitment to the implementation of SMK3 in the workplace. The result shows the involvement of the entire workforce in the K3 activity programs, complying with the fulfillment of K3 laws and regulations, and other supporting procedures. 

    In relation with this achievement, NCKL's Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) Director, Tonny H. Gultom, said, Thank you to the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower for this award, as well as all parties who have provided valuable support and contributions in our journey. 

    "This is a recognition of the dedication, commitment and hard work of Harita People in achieving high occupational safety and health standards, as it is our top priority. Therefore, we constantly strive to create a safe, healthy and sustainable working environment," he said.

    About PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk

    PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk (“TBP”) operates integrated mining and downstream operations on Obi Island, South Halmahera, North Maluku. In addition to having a mining permit, since 2016 the company through its subsidiaries has owned a saprolite (high grade) nickel smelter and a limonite (low grade) nickel refinery since 2021 in the same operational area. 

    The two facilities are here to support the downstream mandate from the Indonesian government by utilizing the nickel mining products of TBP and its subsidiaries engaged in nickel mining. 

    Through PT Halmahera Persada Lygend (HPL), TBP is also a pioneer in Indonesia in processing and refining nickel limonite using High Pressure Acid Leach technology. 

    This technology is capable of processing limonite nickel which has not been utilized into a product of strategic value, namely Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP). MHP is further processed into Nickel Sulfate (NiSO4) and Cobalt Sulfate (CoSO4), which are raw materials for electric vehicle batteries.*
